“Art and Public Space” 15 higher education credits

”THE MODERN CEMETERY” is this year’s theme for the independent course “Art and Public Space” . The question concerning art and craft in the public environment will be discussed, and lectures will be held on the subject.

With the completion of this course you will be able to present a satisfactory idea for an integrated art piece on a specific site by building a model and making sketches.

The course is divided into two parts; part one being of a more visionary nature with seminars enlightening the theme from different aspects and viewpoints and you will work with freer artistic ideas.

The second part will proceed from actual sites, where you will develop your ideas from sketch to model - you will work together with a project-leader and learn how to build a scale model so as to be able to present your idea in a professional way.

The course-leader is Ulf Kihlander, an artist with long experience in leading art projects in public environments.

The course is from Tuesday, 18th January 2011
until 23rd March 2011
The seminars will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays in daytime.
There will be a group show at the end of the course.

Professional artists and students studying at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the Masters level are welcome to apply for the course.

The course will be presented in Swedish with the possibility of adjusting to English if the student group has need of this. Some parts of the course may be in English.
