Lunch Talk: Passion for Hair

16 Oct 2011
The icelandic artist Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir lunch talks at HDK, University of Gothenburg

The icelandic artist Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir, or Shoplifter which is her artist name, will give an extra lunch talk on Wednesday the 26th of October, at 12.00 at HDK, University of Gothenburg.

Hrafnhildur will present a mix of her past and present artwork, mixed with fashion-related design work. Because of her collaboration with the Icelandic singer Björk, Hrafnhildur is very well-known internationally, both for her hair sculptures and her stage dresses.

Hrafnhildur’s way to work with hair has been of great interest for the fashion industry. She creates hair creations for the New York based fashion company PLK, which is directed by the British designer Victoria Bartlett. The singer Lady Gaga has also worn some hair creations created by Hrafhnildur.

On the 10th of November, Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir will receive the Nordic Award in Textiles 2011 in Borås. The award will be formally presented in Borås. On the same day, an exhibition showing Hrafhnhildur’s work will open in the Textile Museum in Borås.

Welcome!
