New master programme in Design

HDK is launching a new master programme in Design. It is planned to start in September 2012, if all necessary decisions are made.

 
Changes in the world creates a need for more distinct programme profiles, with a connection to ongoing research. The new programme is part of a development project in the design department, where input and evalutations from students’, teachers’ and external contacts have played an important role. The new progamme will replace the current Individual Specialisation (IS).
 
The name of the new programme is simply Design. Like IS it will offer students opportunities to refine and deepen design skills and knowledge in their field of interest, but the new programme has a clear structure based on certain focus areas:

• expression and sense-making
• context knowledge and critical reflection
• responsibility and the role of designers in society.

The biggest change compared to IS of today will be the structure and the content of the first year. The second year will only haveminor changes.
