Specific subject description
The relationship between the human body as carrier and the piece of jewellery is central to the subject jewellry art at HDK. Innovative and practical artistic work is driving the jewelery art forward. International perspective and historical background interact constantly with the subject. The students' work reflects the communication, reflection, practice and theory.The in depth work and the relation to the subject jewellry art borders to the intimate relation between techniques and materials.
Your duties as Senior Lecturer will include teaching, supervision and examination of jewellry art, primarily in courses at undergraduate level, which includes jewellry art forms, materials and methods. This position involves administrative work as course coordination, schedule planning, course evaluation and planning of other activities such as field trips and exhibitions. As part of your teaching duties you will also be expected to pursue artistic R&D work.
A commission as director of studies is a significant part of this employment. This means responsibility for the implementation and development of the undergraduate program in jewellry art, and contribute to the development of the subject jewellry art. The directors of studies of the programs in Crafts at HDK work closely together and with the head of the unit.
In order to be qualified for a post as Senior Lecturer (GB)/Associate Professor (US) in the fine, applied and performing arts, you must fulfill the requirements of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, chapter 4, § 4, i.e.
have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a doctorate in the fine, applied or performing arts or have other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties it will involve
- have a master's degree in Fine Arts or equivalent
- artistic skill wide professional experience within the jewellery art area
- pedagogical skills documented through experience of teaching, supervision and pedagogical development, preferably within higher education
- capability to establish contacts both on a national and international level
- documented administrative experience and skills
- documented good cooperative and communication skills
- good knowledge in Swedish and English, both oral and written
We will pay particular consideration to experience of international activities within the subject area as well as experience of artistic R&D work or other research activities within the subject area. Of significance for this post is that the applicant has a constructive attitude towards his or her work and has solid skills in planning, organizing and delegating. We also attach great importance to the applicant's personal suitability.
