Henric Benesch Architect MSA/PhD

As an architect and researcher issues of change regarding the relation between environments (buildings) and activities (human and non-human) has been a reoccurring theme. That is, to what degree is it we as human who is the changing factor and to what degree is our environment which, whether we like or not, that changes us. Where my main interest lies in how now things can emerge, how we as designers can take the unforeseen into account in a productive way.

I took my masters at CTH-A in 1999, and have since then been moving back an forth and in-between commercial practices and academia, working with education, research, surveys, exhibitions as well as private commissions. The past years has been devoted to artistic research, as a new practice and research field where I have been investigating the field’s premises and possibilities in my own research as well as within the multidisciplinary research projects “Interventions” and “Kitchens/Passion for the real”. In February 2010 I defended my dissertation “Under the canopy – an environment for artistic research” at the Faculty of Fina, Applied and Performings Arts/HDK as a part of this work.
