Design second cycle/MA level

NEW DESIGN PROGRAMME STARTING IN SEPTEMBER 2012.

HDK has a long tradition of artistic education that have contributed to making Swedish Design world famous. HDK is nowadays also home to contemporary, innovative design research which is continuing to build on Sweden’s successful commitment to social welfare.

This is the foundation on which we have constructed our new Design Programme at second Cycle level, starting in the autumn term 2012.
The main focus of the Programme is your deeper development of your creative ability, whether it is in visual communication, spatial design or product design. You will be able to immerse yourself in the exploration of how design creates meaning, and you will develop a practical and theoretical understanding of the communicative aspects of design.

Your studies will of course touch on issues such as the designer’s responsibility and role in a societal perspective. A natural part of your studies will be to participate in a reflective and critical discourse on sustainability and social responsibility, under the leadership of experienced teachers and researchers. In this way you will be able to develop an understanding for the strategic implications of design for the community as well as for trade and industry.
