HDK plays in Milan

Play is a fundamental human activity. But what if your playground is a dump? Are all materials acceptable to play with? How can light and sound give new dimensions to public spaces?

Imagine a toy box inspired by Icelandic myths and a cabinet where you can both express yourself and hide. Students from the unique Swedish master’s programme Child Culture Design exhibit ”Play in progress” in Milan 17-22 April.

Versions of young designers vision

In a time of increasing individual focus a group of young Swedish designers present their vision: collectivity and sharing. The visual communication of the project is inspired by surrealism, football and choirs. Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2012 is the place where it all happens.

During the autumn, Ceramic Art students in grade 3 at HDK have been working with paraphrases.

They have picked out an object from the Baroque collection at the Röhsska museum and have worked with the aim of creating an updated version of the object – a paraphrase.

Exhibiting students: Linda Lo Eklöw, Daniel Olofsson, Sara Nolla Borghöj, Anne Massler and Dan Adlešič

Time is just a word

Someone buys time, steals time, kills time, loses time, bides time, has no time.

Time and change is the theme when master students from HDK - School of Design and Crafts exhibit their work at Gallery ORO in Gothenburg. Visitors will experience embroidered sound art, jewellry which has been run over and shot, live ceramics, films and objects.

Textile Art students at leading international arena

Twenty-five Textile Art students from HDK – School of Design and Crafts, University of Gothenburg, exhibit at one of the world’s leading arenas within its’ field.

On Monday September 19 a bus leaves HDK – School of Design and Crafts with artwork, twenty-five Textile Art students, teachers and artists. Destination: Kaunas Textile Art Biennial. In Lithuania.

Mårten Medbo exhibits in Paris

Mårten Medbo, research student in Crafts at HDK – School of Design and Crafts, exhibits with the theme ”Schoolyard monkies”.

Mårten Medbo describes his exhibition:

”Childhood can be a cruel and brutal place but also a place of compassion and solidarity. It is as a child you learn about the social rules. It is a concrete learning. These kinds of experiences are something we all share.

Traces of passionate collectors at Furniture Fair

Change focus from consumption and instead leave your objects in the hands of a passionate collector. Then you can get a cosy, hand knitted space out of wool, a living shelf, traces of our religious heritage and left-overs from aliens. Students from HDK exhibit at Stockholm Furniture Fair in Sweden 8-12 February.
