Boundary Table

This work is inspired by an incautious dropping of my pen. --Would it be great that the table can hold the pen for me? --Boundary Table has a simple groove around the edge which will catch the pen when it rolled to the edge. --This groove will also let people recognize the difference between the space outside and inside of the table. The isolation of the table top gives people a sense of order. It makes people unconsciously put their stuff inside the boundary, and makes them pay more attention on their work. --This groove can also be used to store some small gadgets, such as erasers and clips which always hide at the bottom of the pen holder and difficult to take out, or usually disappear from the table. To put them in the groove, you can easily find them when you need to use them.

The regenaration of E-wast

To my understanding, the re-design of wasted product is utilizing the existing structure, material or pattern of wasted products, or put some other elements in the waste and change it into new products. Although there are something much wasted, but also can be recycled such as elements of mobile phones and computers. But there are also something can only be burned into ashes because the lack of recycling value such as the removed precious metals circuit board. Our re-design should focus to the latter ones, with designer’s vision to find their value, so their lives continue.---------------------------------------------- In our researching of the waste recycling center, we found many “valuable” things: wasted plastic block of copper removed from the ammeter, through-flow fan of air conditioner, broken keyboards and variety of small wasted parts which nobody knows where they come from. We stumbled upon a few holes on the plastic block looks like an interesting face, so we start to find other “faces” in the collected electronic wastes, and then the birth of “pigmy family”- Mr. Glasses’ bed lights, couples toothbrush holder, small eyes notes boxes and big mouth tape shelf. These expressions in electronic waste have never been found before, a lot of waste products are valuable and they are actually very hard materials. They have beautiful patterns and abandoned just because of the broken of e-program or the cutting off of the connection, as long as the reasonable use, they can become a valuable product.

HIDE||SHOW

Every child not only has the right to express themselves, but also the right to have secrets. The “HIDE||SHOW” cabinet has a secret door behind the normal door where you can draw freely on it to create your own furniture. And of course it is your choice to hide your masterpiece by closing the normal outside door, or just show it to everyone!
