My exam project is dealing with the „thought of flying”. I wanted to build a piece of furniture, which tries to achieve this feeling. It should be conveyed to the user through the usage, which means haptic but as well merely visual. The design process included several different phases and started with the search for keywords, to have a basis and a filter for the work. The next step was the sketch work, were I made several different designs. I aligned them with my research work, to figure out the best solution. To approximate the tactile feeling of flying, I did some research about the tactile perception. Due to the fact, that it is essential to have a comfortable reclining position, I made some ergonomical experiments, to figure out what the perfect posture is. The final result of my work, was a rocking lounge with slim shapes, expressing motion, lightness and elegance.
